LIVING SURRENDERED!

Living a Surrendered Life

In a world that constantly tells us to chase comfort, security, and success, the call of Jesus stands in stark contrast: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

Jesus doesn’t call us to live a comfortable life. He calls us to live a surrendered life.

That word—surrendered—shifts everything. It means our plans, our desires, and even our identities are laid at the feet of Christ. It’s not about giving Him part of our lives; it’s about giving Him all of it. When we do, we find that true freedom and purpose are born not in holding on, but in letting go.

What Surrender Looks Like

  • Daily Choices: Surrender is less about a single moment and more about daily obedience. It’s choosing to align your thoughts, actions, and decisions with God’s Word—even when it costs you something.

  • Trust in Trials: A surrendered life isn’t exempt from hardship. In fact, it may invite it. But the surrendered heart learns to trust God’s goodness and sovereignty, even in suffering.

  • Kingdom Impact: Comfort keeps us small; surrender makes us bold. When we live sold out for Christ, our lives ripple outward—touching families, friends, communities, and even nations.

The Fruit of Surrender

Ironically, what the world calls loss, Jesus calls gain. In surrender, we discover peace that surpasses understanding, joy that outlasts circumstances, and strength that is made perfect in weakness. Most of all, we discover intimacy with Christ that far outweighs anything this world can offer.

As Aidan often reminds young adults:
“A life sold out for Christ is a life that changes the world.”

That’s the invitation. Not to play it safe. Not to live for ourselves. But to rise up, count the cost, and embrace the beauty of a life fully surrendered to Jesus.
